Legislative Update from Rep. Tommy Pope

Tommy Pope introduces Miss York, Alyssa Puckett, to wish her the best of luck and rally all of York’s support of her in the upcoming Miss South Carolina pageant. He also discusses the big issue plaguing the representatives this week, which is dealing with the repercussions of the candidates who were stricken from the ballot last week. The House and Senate are working on bills to attempt to remedy this situation, but Pope voices concern of the result if too much is done. Drawing too much attention to the matter would result in interference from the Department of Justice of the federal government which would cause the State to lose power over its elections. He relates that the Department of Administration Bill has been passed over to the Senate and that the House’s deck is cleared for the most part for the remainder of session.
